FAQs

Please take a moment to read our most commonly asked questions. We're always available to answer your questions and encourage you to contact our office if you have a question that is not answered below.

Q: What does "integrative pediatrics" mean?

Integrative medicine refers to the mindful combination of conventional or western medicine with other systems of healing and promoting wellness.  The goal is to take the best that western medicine and scientific research has to offer and to augment that with other ways of thinking about health.  The job of an integrative pediatrician is to be an excellent conventional doctor, while at the same time being open minded and knowledgable about other forms of healing so that she can both guide her patients down the optimal path and also steer them away from interventions that may be harmful or unnecessary.

Q: What types of insurance do you take?

A: We do our best to accept as many forms of insurance as possible. Because we are unable to be in network with every sub-plan within some of the bigger plans, we strongly recommend that you contact your plan and make sure that one of the HIP providers is listed as "in-network". As long as one of the providers is "in-network" your child should be covered at HIP, regardless of who sees you here.  Below is a list of insurers that we take. Again, please check your specific plan.

Q: Can I visit the office and meet a provider before my baby is born?

A: Yes, we encourage parents-to-be or families considering a change to our practice to visit our office for a tour. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our doctors. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice.  Visit our Expecting page for more information.

Q: How often should my child see the pediatrician?

A: Our practice is built around a philosophy of preventative care.  We hope to be a part of keeping your children as healthy as possible and to be readily available when they become ill.  We ask our families to see us for regularly sheduled wellness visits so that we can maximize that preventative care.

Well-child visits are also a good time for parents to raise questions and concerns about a child's development, behavior, nutrition, safety and overall well-being.

Here are the visits we recommend:

  • 3 to 5 days
  • 2 weeks
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • And once every year thereafter for an annual health supervision visit that includes a physical exam as well as a developmental, behavioral, and learning assessment.

Q: What is the best way to schedule an appointment with your office?

A: You can schedule an appointment by calling our office during regular business hours, or by requesting an appointment online.

Q: Is your office accepting new patients?

A: We are currently accepting newborn babies. If you are interested in transfering into our practice, please call the front office for more information.
